In I walk to Starbucks and there's Sarkis, jumping up from his seat, rushing over to the register to greet me. He tells me he loves me becasue every time he sees me I have a giant beautiful smile on my face. I told him it keeps me young. And then he says, And every time I see you, I see a little more of your baby too!!! I told him there was a little boy in there and I swear, he almost burst into tears, congratulating me... and then bought my mocha and croissant. What a doll. He's the cutest little man I swear. I overheard him telling one of the ladies at his table, what he said to me and she started laughing and saying that perhaps he offended me. My guess is by telling me I'm getting bigger. :) No offense taken at all. I would have said the same thing.
Which leads me to thinking about how we decide what we are and aren't going to say to people. What is appropriate? I have a bad habit of finding a personal connection with people I meet and that "line" of appropriate comments, goes out the window. I would have said the same thing. Probably something more along the lines of "look at your beautiful belly! It's getting so big!". Because really, I do think my belly is beautiful, it's a great shape!!!! Already this little boy is lookin super cute! But I wouldn't have found anything offensive about that and I don't think I would have thought it was inappropriate to say. That's the way I roll. :)
Affect / effect you ask? From Wikipedia:
Affect - The term Affect generally suggests an emotion. For example, In psychology, affect is the scientific term used to describe a subject's externally displayed mood.
Effect - from Latin effectus "performance, accomplishment". Any result of another action or circumstance.
Sooo... affect is a feeling...effect is a result..... Uh, either way, the more you type those two words, the more they just don't look right... as if they're really not words. Good times.
I had a yogurt on the way to work today. As usual. It was good. I just had a croissant. It too was alright. I'm still hungry. And the lil monkey is bouncin around in there! Still terribly cool.
Tomorrow morning we head out to Ft Wayne to pick up Babe's new car. He's so excited he can barely stand it. I love seeing him act like this. He's not like most people...er rather... like me, that would just be a goofball about it... he's giddy... and excited... but in a way like he doesn't want to admit it. It's soooo cute. Tomorrow should be a really interesting day! I can't wait!

I, unfortunately at times, say the most inappropriate things at the wrong times. I never mean it maliciously it's just that sometimes I speak before my brain engages. Like one time when I saw my niece for the first time after 10 years or so and I remembered her being a skinny teenager. But when I saw her again she was really out of shape and just plain fat and frumpy looking. I looked at her and instead of saying 'Hi" or something equally unoffensive I blurted out" Wow, have you changed"
I was hoping the carpet would swallow me up. :(
I'm loving the interaction between you and Sarkis. How cute is that!!
And don't we love seeing our guys all excited over stuff! That under the breath giggle and trying not to jump around and act like a complete fool...so fun.
Thanks for the deffinition. I knew you'd come through for me. :)
have a safe trip!
